Frequently Asked Questions
First, it's the ultimate in American made products. Everything we make is one of a kind. We design & make exactly what you want, right down to the special embellishments that show your style. View examples of our work HERE and see for yourself. There's no comparison!
We need measurements – and it's pretty easy to take the basics yourself. You'll need a steel tape measure, a pencil & paper. Draw your window (or windows) on each wall. Measure the width inside the window & the height inside the window, and record them on your drawing. (Use the closest 1/8" measurement on everything.) Then measure the distances to the left, to the right, above the window & from the sill to the floor and record them on your drawing. If you have multiple windows on one wall, record the measurements between them. If you have trim around the windows, we'll need to know that, too. That should give us enough information to calculate things. Once you have that, you can fax it or email it to us.
We need to know what kind of treatment you want – whether it is Roman shades, draw draperies or you have a picture of something that you want to duplicate. Then we'll have more specific questions about what you want us to make.
If you have no idea what you want, you might find inspiration from our past work. View examples of our work HERE. If nothing works for you then you probably need a design consultation. Contact me, we work with many.
If you can give us basic measurements, we can at least get started. Even if they're really high, you can probably at least estimate how big they are. Then once you decide that you are ready, we can have an installer come out to take proper measurements.
Yes, we do.
If you need to have someone measure, the fee is $100. That covers up to an hour and will allow us to measure several rooms, and 1 template*.
*A template is a paper pattern that traces the shape of a window, wall or space. If you need a design consultation, the fee is $225. That covers up to 1.5 hours for us to guide you through window treatment styles and how they will function for you. During that time, we will address if you need privacy, room darkening, functional and decorative treatments as well as fabrics and lining that are appropriate for your room(s). We will follow up the consultation with a price quote.
It takes time to drive places and take measurements or consult with you. We price our work on a cost plus basis, and selling our service is part of the cost. Most of the companies who offer "free" services charge retail prices for everything, so even though they tell you it is free, you are paying for it somewhere.
Sure! But often, it's better to have a pro tackle the job. ;-)
We love to work with designers! There is nothing better than having a team to make your home beautiful. Many designers are also our customers.
When we make your bedding, everything will fit YOUR bed as well as your room's style. There really is no comparison between custom and ready-made bedding. Check some of our bedding work HERE
No, the charges are for the work that has been performed.
Possibly. We'll need measurements on your windows, and we'll need to look at the old treatments. They may not have enough fabric in them, they may be sun damaged, who knows until we see them. If we can rework them, they will have to be dry cleaned before we will work on them. Sometimes, it is not cost effective to rework them, but we will assess that together.
Yes. We have access to all types of fabrics. If you'd prefer to shop on your own, there are several local fabric stores as well as the internet.
No, you are not obligated to purchase fabrics from us, but we love it when you do!
Many fabrics can be used for draperies or upholstery. We will be happy to help you determine whether a fabric is suitable for your project.
Absolutely! We offer many lines of decorative hardware and we'll be happy to help you select something beautiful.
We can treat curves, angles, arches and odd shapes. They're a little more complicated that rectangular windows, but we have experience in all of these areas.

Once the decisions are finalized, it usually takes 4-6 weeks. Some seasons are busier, so if you're planning a big event, we'll want to allow enough time to do the job properly.
